Transforming Your Business with Outsourcing with Bev Feldman
This episode Rachel hosts Bev Feldman, whom she calls a “personal tech fairy.” Bev is a ConvertKit expert. The main focus is Bev’s career change and how it’s transformed her personal and career lives. To kick things off, Bev tells Rachel about the challenges she faced running a product-based business making and selling jewelry and being a new mother at the same time. She was able to harness her creativity and love for interacting with people into starting a blog on Eco-friendly living. As Bev tells it, the blog was successful and was much more aligned with her values, so she was able to sell off her remaining jewelry and focus on that. Host and guest then discuss the relief and sense of purpose that come with a rewarding career, as opposed to doing things for your business that feel like chores. The topic of conversation shifts next to ConvertKit, and Bev explains to Rachel that early on despite the difficulties she enjoyed the problem-solving that went into figuring out how to get the system to run smoothly for her business. This naturally leads to the topic of outsourcing, and Bev refers to the importance of finding someone who is excited by the challenge that you hand them and who doesn’t look back to you to solve the problem. The ideal person, according to Bev, will “lean into that challenge on your behalf and do it better.” She stresses the importance of creativity in solving these problems as well as it being a good fit. Rachel follows up by asking what, exactly, Bev chooses to outsource, and Bev says she mainly uses outsourcing to maintain her social media presence, posting images, writing copies, and such. She describes her decision to outsource this aspect of her business as “amazing.” Bev again uses the word “relief” to describe the feeling that she is left with from being able to “lean into the parts” of her business she enjoys and having an “overall better Instagram experience.” The conversation rounds out with Bev informing Rachel that she plans on ‘outsourcing’ some of her household tasks so she can be more mentally present with her kids and focus her energies where she is the best and where she feels most fulfilled.
